14-year-old boy has been charged with seven counts of rape on four children in Salford

Wednesday, July 13, 2005
NEWS & COMMENT NEWS ARTICLE from BBC World News "A 14-year-old boy has been charged with seven counts of rape on four children in Salford, Greater Manchester Police have said. The charges follow an incident in Mandley Park, off Leicester Road, on Sunday night. The girls involved are believed to be aged between seven and 10. The teenager, who is from Salford, is due to appear before Salford magistrates court on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said. " COMMENT Seeing this article, I was in a slight shock! I was repeatedly reading it to see if I am reading it properly and accurately..... A 14 year old boy charged for seven accounts of rape? I just was out of words to describe what I felt. What has the world come to? With all the sex and violence portrayed on public television programs, it's no wonder children pick them up easily and imitate them. From young, especially the children nowadays, the so called Generation X, grow up with sex and violence even from what may appear to be just "innocent looking" children's cartoons! Some may blame the child, others the parents, others for the televison and the people behind the programming, but I guess in the end, no one would take the blame as it woud be passed around from person to person. I am saddened, shocked and extremely dissapointed to hear such a news item as this one and I end by hoping I wouldnt hear news similar to this often. A strong and unique message from Tony Blair's Commons statement

Monday, July 11, 2005
QUOTE and COMMENT " Britain may be different today but the coming together is the same. And I say to our Muslim community. People know full well that the overwhelming majority of Muslims stand four square with every other community in Britain. We were proud of your contribution to Britain before last Thursday. We remain proud of it today. Fanaticism is not a state of religion but a state of mind. We will work with you to make the moderate and true voice of Islam heard as it should be. Together, we will ensure that though terrorists can kill, they will never destroy the way of life we share and which we value, and which we will defend with the strength of belief and conviction so that it is to us and not to the terrorists, that victory will belong. " I would say that I really was moved by these few words that Tony Blair spoke at the Common's yesterday. I totally agree with his views and I hope he does not change them. The one sentence I want to emphasize again is, "Fanaticism is not a state of religion but a state of mind. We will work with you to make the moderate and true voice of Islam heard as it should be." (Tony Blair, 2005) Nowadays people around the world has lost respect for Islam just because of the doings of some groups claiming to do things in the name of Islam. All must unite to show the true teachings and practices of Islam the way it actually is. LINK BBC NEWS | UK | UK Politics | Tony Blair's Commons statement
